Report: Rockets Talking to Teams About Dwight Howard Trade

Echoing what comrade Chris Mannix reported last week, the Houston Rockets are talking to other teams about a possible Dwight Howard trade, according to The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Woj reports that Dan Fegan, Howard’s agent, is working with the Rockets to find a destination for the big man, who’s set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer.

This comes after another disastrous loss for Houston, who now sits outside the Western Conference playoff picture. Howard, James Harden and Rockets general manager Daryl Morey reportedly held a meeting after Wednesday’s loss to the Portland Trail Blazers, and apparently the parties came away thinking a trade may be best for both sides. Although, Fegan told ESPN’s Marc Stein that neither he nor his client have asked for a deal.

The Boston Celtics have been mentioned as a possible destination for Howard, as the big man would solidify the interior for the third-seeded Celtics. However, the asking price has been extremely high, and giving up a handful of valuable assets would be a risk given Howard’s health concerns and impending free agency.

The 30-year-old is having a solid season with averages of 14.6 points and 12 rebounds while shooting 61.2 percent, but he’s not the dominant force he was in his prime.
