Klay Thompson Beats Stephen Curry to Win 3-Point Contest
Stephen Curry admirably defended his Three-Point Contest title, but teammate Klay Thompson got the better of him in both the first and final round to keep the crown in the Bay Area.
Thompson scored a 27 in the final round (which is what Curry won with last year), besting a 23 from Curry and 16 by youngster Devin Booker. The “other” Splash Brother finished up by drilling six straight money balls:
Thompson also set the pace in the first round by putting up 22 points as the first shooter of the evening. Curry put in 21 points, while Booker advanced by winning a tiebreaker between him, James Harden and J.J. Redick after they all scored 20 points in the opening round.
Khris Middleton went home with the worst score of the night with 13. C.J. McCollum didn’t do much better with 14 points, and he even air-balled one of his shots.
