Kings Lose Game and DeMarcus Cousins

The Sacramento Kings suffered two losses tonight when they faced the Memphis Grizzlies. The first was the game, and the second was their star center, DeMarcus Cousins, who rolled his ankle and had to be helped to the locker room with 2:01 left in the game.

Cousins, who was having an extraordinary month, averaging 32.6 points and 12.8 rebounds for the month  of January coming into tonight. Cousins was averaging 32.6 and 12.8 for the month coming into tonight, is crucial for the Kings who are unexpectedly int he playoff hunt, though after tonight’s loss they drop a game an a half out.

Without Cousins and with the resurgent Rajon Rondo having fouled out, the Kings still nearly pulled off a comeback, Down as much as 18 in the fourth quarter, they shaved the lead down to one point on a Darren Collison three-pointer with 18 seconds left. But then the Grizzlies made three clutch free throws to give them a four-point win.

According to Jason Jones of the Sacramento Bee, Cousins’ injury was just a sprain and the X-rays were negative.
