Clippers Recall Branden Dawson From D-League

The Los Angeles Clippers announced Sunday that they have recalled Branden Dawson from the Grands Rapid Drive of the D-League.

Dawson has swung back and forth between the Clippers and the D-League this season, but getting recalled has to be a nice birthday gift for Dawson, who turns 23 tomorrow. Picked 56th overall in last June’s draft, the rookie from Michigan State has played a mere 13 minutes over two appearances this season for the Clippers, scoring two points on three shots.

According to the official release, Dawson has played in 21 games (15 with the Drive and six with the Bakersfield Jam), averaging 6.6 points and 3.7 rebounds in 16.8 minutes per game.

It’s unlikely that Dawson sees playing time, but with Blake Griffin injured and Josh Smith shipped back to Houston, the team’s depth isn’t quite as stable as it was just a few weeks ago.
